A routine that works
Find it. Play the song and note where it gets hard. Zoom in on the timeline to see the bars (the timeline).
Loop it. Drag across the passage, starting a bar early so you can settle in (looping).
Listen to your part alone.Solo your instrument a few times to hear exactly what’s played (the mixer).
Slow it down. Open Adjust tempo and pick a speed where you can play it without mistakes, often 0.5× or 0.8× (tempo).
Play with the band. Unsolo your part, then Mute it so you play its role yourself.
Speed up gradually. Raise the tempo by 0.1× each time it feels comfortable, until you’re back at 1×.
Record a take at 1× to hear how it sounds against the original (recording).
Tips
Short, focused loops of two to four bars work better than long ones.
