Jam / JamStudio Copyright and Takedown Policy
Effective date: [DATE]
Notice endpoint: [FORM URL] or [NOTICE EMAIL]
Counter-notice / complaint endpoint: [APPEAL EMAIL/FORM]
Jam hosts User Content only as a technical service and does not claim that customer-uploaded content is rights-cleared. This policy is not a substitute for a court, and it does not require Jam to resolve complex ownership disputes without adequate information.
1. Reporting allegedly illegal or infringing content
If you believe a specific item of content on Jam infringes copyright or related rights, violates another law, or is otherwise illegal, submit an electronic notice. Please include:
- a sufficiently substantiated explanation of why you believe the content is illegal or infringing, including the right you own or represent and the relevant jurisdiction;
- the exact URL(s), project/asset ID(s), or other location information that lets us identify the material;
- your name and email address (unless a lawful exception applies);
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the information is accurate and complete;
- where acting for a rightsholder, your authority to act; and
- supporting material reasonably necessary to assess the notice (for example registration, chain-of-title, release or representative authorisation), without sending unnecessary personal data.

Subject: Jam content notice —
[URL/ASSET ID]
I am[NAME/RIGHTSHOLDER/REPRESENTATIVE]. I believe the content at[EXACT URL]infringes/violates[RIGHT/LAW]because[CONCISE FACTS]. I have a good-faith belief that this notice is accurate and complete. I may be contacted at[EMAIL].[AUTHORITY AND SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS].
We acknowledge qualifying notices without undue delay, review them diligently, objectively and in a timely manner, and notify the reporter of our decision and available redress. A notice that is vague or concerns only an abstract dispute may need more information before we can act.
2. What Jam may do
Depending on the information and risk, we may preserve evidence; ask for clarification; restrict visibility; disable access; remove content; prevent a specific re-upload where appropriate and feasible; suspend public-sharing privileges; or refer the matter to legal counsel or authorities. We aim for proportionate action and do not make content decisions solely through automation.
When we remove, restrict, disable or otherwise act on a user’s content or account because of alleged illegality or a Terms breach, we will provide the affected user with a clear statement of reasons where legally required and where we have usable contact details. This may identify the legal/contractual basis, scope and duration of the action, relevant facts, use of automated tools (if any), and available redress.
3. User complaint / counter-notice
If your content or access was restricted, you may submit a complaint within six months of our decision at [APPEAL EMAIL/FORM]. Include the decision reference, affected URL/asset, your explanation and supporting evidence of your rights or an applicable exception/limitation (for example quotation, criticism, review, caricature, parody or pastiche where applicable). We will review the complaint promptly, diligently, non-discriminatorily and with appropriately qualified human oversight, and notify you of our reasoned decision and further redress options.
4. Repeat or serious misuse
We may take escalating measures against users who repeatedly or seriously infringe rights or misuse the notice process, considering the severity, reliability and context of the evidence. We may likewise act against repeated manifestly unfounded notices. A report alone does not establish infringement; we aim to protect both rightsholders and lawful expression.
5. Public sharing and rights clearance
Anyone who uploads or publicly shares content through Jam remains responsible for all necessary permissions. Jam’s processing or public hosting is not a grant of a licence in the underlying composition, master recording, samples, lyrics, performances or other protected material. If Jam operates public sharing at scale, it will maintain this policy and corresponding operational safeguards; it does not rely on a contractual disclaimer as a substitute for legal obligations.
6. United States DMCA module — complete before launch in the United States
If Jam makes user content publicly available in the United States and intends to rely on the DMCA hosting safe-harbour process, it must designate a DMCA agent with the U.S. Copyright Office and publish the same current agent details on the Service. Do not represent that Jam has a registered DMCA agent until registration is complete.
Designated agent (insert only after registration): [AGENT NAME/ROLE, POSTAL ADDRESS, PHONE, EMAIL].
A US DMCA notification must include the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), including a signature, identification of the copyrighted work and material, contact details, good-faith statement, and accuracy/authority statement under penalty of perjury. A counter-notice must meet the requirements of 17 U.S.C. § 512(g). Jam will reasonably implement its repeat-infringer policy while preserving the EU notice, reasoned-decision and complaint safeguards described above.
