On the timeline
The lyrics row above the parts highlights each word as it’s sung. Where Jam has split a word into syllables and you’re zoomed in far enough, the highlight moves syllable by syllable, which helps with fast or stretched phrases.
The Lyrics view
The Lyrics view shows the words line by line, highlights the current line and scrolls to keep up. Select a word to jump to that line.
On a computer, choose Show in main view on the Lyrics card. On a phone, choose Lyrics in the footer.
With Guitar, Piano or Bass as your instrument, the chords appear above the words, like a lead sheet.
Singing along
Mute Vocals in the mixer and keep the Lyrics view open (the mixer). When you’re ready, record a take.
When there are no lyrics
- Transcribing lyrics…: Jam is still working on them.
- No lyrics were detected in this song.: the song is instrumental, or the voice couldn’t be told apart from the music.
- Lyrics could not be transcribed.: the transcription failed. The rest of the song still works.
Lyrics are transcribed automatically and can mishear words, especially on backing vocals, effects-heavy voices and fast passages. You can’t edit them in Jam yet (when Jam gets it wrong).
