Use the mixer: mute, solo and adjust parts

Each part has Mute, Solo and a volume control at the left of the timeline. Mute a part to take it out, solo it to hear it alone, or set it anywhere from 0% to 150%.

Mute, solo and volume

  • Mute takes a part out of the mix. To practise singing over the band, mute Vocals.
  • Solo plays a part on its own. Solo several parts to hear just those together.
  • The volume slider sets the part from 0% to 150%. 100% is the level it has in the original mix.

Muting a soloed part lifts its solo, and soloing a muted part unmutes it. While anything is soloed, every part that isn’t soloed is silent, including your takes.

If the controls are hidden on a narrow window, choose Expand mixer controls.

Mixer presets

Choose Mixer presets to switch the whole mix at once:

  • Highlight instrument presets, such as Voice+, Drums+ or Bass+, bring one part forward and turn the others down.
  • To keep your own mix, type a name under New preset and choose Save. Pin the presets you use most.

Your presets are saved to your account and work on every song. They hold each part’s volume, mute and solo.

What Jam remembers

Each song keeps its mix in this browser, so it sounds the same when you come back on this device.
