When Jam gets the analysis wrong

Jam’s separated parts, chords, lyrics and beat are produced automatically and can be wrong, especially on dense, live or unusual recordings. You can’t correct them in Jam yet, but you can tell us.

Common mistakes

  • Chords: rich chords simplified (a Cmaj9 shown as C), a bass note mistaken for the root, or a quick passing chord missed.
  • Lyrics: misheard words, backing vocals mixed into the lead line, or a line placed a little early or late.
  • Beat and bars: songs that speed up or slow down, have free rhythm, or use meters like 6/8 can confuse the bar layout, the loop snapping and the count-in.
  • Separation: a trace of one part in another (why).

What you can do

  • Trust your ears. Loop the passage and slow it down to check what’s really played (practise a difficult passage).
  • Solo the part you’re checking: a chord is often clearer on the solo bass, guitar or piano part.
  • Tell us. In Jam, open Account and choose Send feedback. Include the song’s title and the time where it goes wrong. Reports like these show us where to improve.

Can I edit chords or lyrics?

Not yet. Chords, lyrics and the beat can’t be edited in Jam today.
