The take stopped early
Pausing, seeking or jumping to another point ends the take, and so does reaching 10 minutes. Jam also stops a take, and keeps what was recorded, when:
- the microphone disconnects or capture fails: see the microphone isn’t working;
- audio is interrupted, for example by a call or another app taking over the sound;
- Jam leaves the foreground, for example when you switch app or tab on a phone.
Start a new take from where you want to record.
No take appeared
- “That take was too short to keep.”: takes under a quarter of a second are discarded.
- Check the messages in the microphone isn’t working.
The take is silent
- Check its row in the mixer: it may be muted, at 0%, or silenced by a solo on another part.
- Tempo and pitch must be 1× and 0 for takes to play.
- If it was silent while recording, check that the right microphone was selected.
It says Not saved
The take is in the Studio but hasn’t reached your account, for example because the connection dropped. Keep the page open and check your connection, then open Download mix in the song’s ⋯ menu and start the download: any take you can hear that isn’t saved is listed with Retry save. Download mix needs the tempo at 1× and the pitch at 0. If a message says this song already has the most recordings your plan keeps, delete a take you don’t need first (managing takes).
Out of sync
Bluetooth headphones and some audio interfaces add delay. Use wired headphones, or move the take to line it up (managing takes).
