What Jam works out
- Six parts: Vocals, Drums, Bass, Guitar, Piano and Other (how separation works).
- The beat: bars and beats, used for the chord grid, loop snapping and the count-in.
- Chords, placed on the beat.
- Lyrics, transcribed from the vocal part, with timing down to the syllable.
- The vocal melody, and the notes of the bass line.
What you see
Separation shows its stage and progress:
| Stage | What it means |
|---|---|
| Queued | Waiting for its turn. |
| Waiting for processing capacity | Jam is busier than usual. Your song keeps its place in line. |
| Preparing audio | Reading the file. |
| Separating instruments | Splitting the parts, with a percentage. |
| Finalizing | Saving the parts so they’re ready to play. |
Lyrics and other results can appear before separation has finished. While they’re still being worked out, the Studio says so, for example Transcribing lyrics… or Transcribing chords….
How long it takes
It depends on the song’s length and how busy Jam is. You don’t need to keep the page open: processing continues in the background, and the song is ready in your library when it’s done.
If something fails
- If separation fails, the Studio shows what happened and a Retry button.
- If the lyrics or chords can’t be worked out, the Studio says so, for example “No lyrics were detected in this song.” The rest of the song stays usable.
